INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this policy is to give direction to all partners involved in learning and teaching in Fife. It is anticipated that this guidance will inform school policy and contribute to the professional development of teachers. It replaces the Policy on Teaching and Learning 1994. It takes into account Assessment is for Learning, The Race Relations Amendment Act (2000), Education for Excellence (2003), A Curriculum for Excellence (2004) and other significant developments in Scottish education.

Learning & Teaching

"The curriculum reflects what we value as a nation and what we seek for our young people. It is designed to convey knowledge which is considered to be important and to promote the development of values, understanding and capabilities. It is concerned both with what is to be learned and how it is taught. It should enable all of the young people of Scotland to flourish as individuals, reach high levels of achievement, and make valuable contributions to society.
The curriculum affects us all."
