Internal Applicants Only The primary aim of the Criminal Justice Service is to contribute to maintaining public and community safety. The provision of the service is based on a framework of national standards that ensure consistency across Scotland. Our highest priority is the assessment of risk posed by offenders in the community and the management of these risks through supervision and control. Staff work closely with other Criminal Justice agencies, including the Police and the Judiciary, to enhance both the quality of assessments and the management of risk. We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative individual with supervisory experience and good DIY and craft skills. You will be able to consistently demonstrate a variety of skills which are required to effectively lead, supervise and motivate groups of offenders on a daily basis in the community, whilst completing unpaid work tasks and projects. You will have a good understanding and awareness of the issues facing offenders who are subject to Community Payback orders imposed by the Courts, as a direct alternative to custody is essential. Your responsibilities are booking in, transportation and supervision of Community Payback unpaid work squads. To check risk assessments and follow general Health and Safety procedures, control and safe storage and use of all tools, equipment and vehicles. You will ensure that offenders are supervised and are completing tasks effectively and safely. You will maintain records and complete basic Health and Safety induction for offenders. Previous Supervisory experience and a range of good DIY/craft skills are essential. You must have 4 standard grades, including English or equivalent and previous experience of working with the public. Working three days per week (24 hours 36 minutes) every Saturday and Sunday plus one other day per week, to include evening working depending on the needs of the service. Enhanced payments will apply for the weekend and evening working and lunch time cover.
