Primary School

Carleton Primary School was built in 1953 and is probably the oldest in Glenrothes. The infant department is single storey whilst the upper school boasts two levels. We have fantastic grounds including concrete play areas, grass areas bordered by beautiful trees and a trim trail.

The school houses 14 classes, a main hall (which is used as a dining area) and a stage, a gym, a practical room for craft, design and technology and a newly installed networked computer suite. A controlled security system is in operation on main entry doors.

Our pupils are in the process of transferring one area of the grounds into an outdoor learning area with seating, and specially chosen plants to attract wildlife for observation.

Our aim is to create a welcoming and stimulating environment whilst offering a balanced education which meets the needs and abilities of all pupils in a challenging way.

Regular visits from specialist staff in Drama, Music, Art & P.E. enrich the Expressive Arts curriculum, as does the individual tuition in strings and woodwind as received by some pupils from P5 -P7. We have a full time Learning Support Teacher.

 The Parent Council is well established and meets on a regular basis.

We have residential excursions to France for P6/7 every two years and in the interim year, our P7'as enjoy a British residential experience.

Our school operates a number of after school clubs, including hockey, netball, football, craft club and computer club. We also have soft finish times for P1/P2 families.

Our parents feel that our open door policy to discuss any issues with them is most beneficial and adds to the warm inviting atmosphere in the school.
