Markinch Station is located at the corner of the High Street and Balgonie Road, on the south-east side of the town.
Monday to Friday 0645 to 1330
& 1440 to 1840
Saturday 0810 to 1440
The ticket office is situated within the heated waiting room, in the main building adjacent to Platform 2. It is only open during the above times.
The ticket office is fitted with an induction loop for deaf and hard of hearing people.
In the waiting room there is timetable information for both platforms and various tourist information leaflets.
There is also sheltered seating located next to the bus turning circle and on both platforms.
The upper car park (adjacent to the station building) is free and has space for 25 cars, 9 of which are designated for Blue European Parking Badge Holders. The main car park is also free and has space for 139 cars. It is located 200m from the station building along Balgonie Road.
Drop-off / Pick-up points
Passengers can be dropped off or picked up in the upper car park or from the pick-up point beside the cycle lockers.
Buses / Bus Stops
The bus stop is outside the waiting room. The stop displays electronic information and timetable information. Sheltered seating is available in the main building.
There is a taxi rank 10m from the main building.
A public telephone is located within the shelter next to the waiting room in the main building. This phone takes cards only.
It is also possible to contact ScotRail from this phone (free of charge) either for timetable information or for help, in case of an emergency. To do this, press the ‘First Scotrail’ button located directly above the number 1 button.
The Perth/Dundee-bound platform (Platform 2) is accessible via ramped access from the upper car parks (2° incline), bus stop and station building. Alternatively, there are 21 steps down from the upper car park, 9 steps down from the bus stop or 5 steps down from the station building. Platform width = 4.2m minimum.
The Edinburgh-bound platform (Platform 1) is accessed via a ramp onto the bridge (1° incline) then down 28 steps or by lift to the platform level. Alternatively, the bridge can be accessed via 12 steps from the main building. Platform width = 4.2m minimum.
Both platforms have sheltered seating, timetable information, tactile platform edges and are lit. There are also Help Points if you require assistance (see page 50 for more details).
All trains serving this station carry on-board ramps to assist with boarding/alighting.
The Ladies, Disabled, Gents toilets and baby changing facilities are situated in the waiting room. The toilets are only open during staffing hours.
Electronic information screens are available on both platforms.
Timetable information is available on both platforms, from the ticket office and by using the free telephone service in the shelter on Platform 2.
There are 10 cycle lockers and a rack for 12 bikes located next to the exit from the bus turning circle. Users must provide their own padlocks (locker) or bike locks (rack).
There is CCTV located on both platforms and in the car parks.
There is a postbox located next to the bus turning circle.
Local shops are a few hundred metres north of the station.
