Leuchars Primary School was built in the mid sixties and is a co-educational,  non-denominational school. The school is in the centre of Leuchars village with beautiful countryside, beaches and forest trails close by.

Our aim is to create an ethos within the school environment where pupils, parents and staff work together to provide the highest possible standard of education for everyone in the school.

The school building has a modern, bright appearance and we benefit from a large tarmac playground in addition to extensive playing fields and a garden. The Nursery class is housed in a separate building within the school grounds with its own outside play area but it is very much a part of our school.

Traditionally, our school and the local community have had close links with RAF Leuchars and we are now developing similar close links with the Army. Approximately 65% of our pupils come from MOD Families associated with Leuchars Station.  We are very experienced in accommodating new families into our school and settling children into their new routines and environment.

We have a large number of modern resources to enhance the teaching and learning opportunities available to our pupils and are committed to replacing and maintaining them regularly so that our children can achieve the very highest standards during their time here. We have a computer suite, which can accommodate up to thirty children at one time. All pupils from P1 to P7 regularly use this high quality resource. In addition computers are an integral part of the work within each classroom. Each classroom has an interactive Smartboard and Visualiser.

Our Parent Council is very active and organises many successful social and fundraising events throughout the year. The Parent Council is a valuable link which fosters the partnership between Parents/Carers and the school. All pupils in P2-7 are members of a committee and have a chance to take part in decision making. We also hold regular 'Pupil Voice' sessions to allow children to have their say about school life.
