Print MapInitially built as the Boreland Primary School this old style building has a fresh new look. Since the review of services in 1998, it has been used as the Kirkcaldy Off – Campus Support Centre and has developed this role since the summer 2008 to provide a similar service to that of the Glenrothes Campus. Pupils from the Kirkcaldy Schools can access a full range of support from this Campus. It has an allotment in nearby Dysart and also has a garden to the rear.
The Pupil Support Service was created in the summer of 2008 to develop services for young people with additional support needs in Fife. Its aim is to include pupils within their school and local communities who might otherwise be at risk of exclusion. The service is managed by a Head Teacher.
Currently, the Pupil Support Service serves around 120 pupils through the creation and delivery of personalised learning and support packages.
Access to the service is approved by the Mainstream School Support for Learning Group and then through an Admissions Group. All pupils remain on the School Role of the referring school and together, PSS and School link with other partner agencies in line with the ‘Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC)’ and ‘Staged Intervention’ models to offer appropriate multi-agency support packages.
Learning programmes are managed in partnership with mainstream schools. Pupils benefit from access to a mainstream curriculum but with the additional and intensive support provided by PSS. Within the multi-agency ‘team around the child’, the Pupil Support Service will improve the prospects for this group of disadvantaged pupils through improved attainment and achievement.
The Service has a staff of 60 across 5 bases, with 32 teachers and 23 Pupil Support Assistants.
