St. Marie’s Primary School was opened to pupils in 1975. It is a denominational, co-educational school. The aspect of the school is enhanced by grassed playing fields.

The school building has 11 classrooms, games/dining hall, resource room, music room, drama room, which can be used for circle time, and office accommodation. There are 3 general purpose areas, which are used for play and I.C.T work. Expansive tarmac areas are used for play and a wide range of play equipment is available for use in these areas. The grassed playing fields are used for play and sports in the summer months.

Our aim is to create a happy, safe, stimulating and caring environment, which will enable children to learn to the best of their ability, to reach their full potential, thus developing confidence in themselves and others who work with them.

The Expressive Arts curriculum is enhanced by regular visits from Music, Drama, PE and Art specialists. Pupils in P4-7 are being taught to play the violin and pupils in P6 & 7 are being taught to play classical guitar. We have one full time Learning Support Teacher.

The Friend’s of St. Marie’s is a very active organisation which organises successful social and fundraising events throughout the school session. Our School Board meet regularly and discuss topical issues. The Pupil Council has representatives from P1-P7 and meets 2/3 times each term to discuss concerns and issues raised by the pupils.

A residential programme at Dounans is offered to P7 pupils. Our pupils participate in football and netball tournaments, running events and Fife Festivals of Music, Dance and Drama. We make effective use of the local environment and have established links with another local Primary School and Raith House Residential Home.

We are always pleased to meet with parents who wish to discuss any aspects of our school. We hope that all children will spend many happy, rewarding years in this school, and we feel that a close partnership between home and school is the best way of achieving this.
