Kirkland High School is a unique Fife institution which operates as a normal six year comprehensive school. Our main purpose is to encourage all of our pupils and students to achieve 'Learning for Life.'

We offer a broad-based general education in first and second year which builds upon the knowledge gained and skills developed in the Primary years. In third and fourth year, a full range of courses leading to Standard Grade awards is provided followed by extensive provision in fifth and sixth year leading to certification in SQA 16+ qualifications at Higher, Intermediate and Advanced Higher level. Pupils are well taught by a highly capable staff team and are encouraged to achieve their personal and academic potential to the fullest extent possible.

With an active Parent Council, Kirkland enjoys the benefit of a supportive and involved parent body. Through the Pupil Union, our youngsters are also involved in influencing positively the day to day life of our school. Pupils enjoy a wide range of extra curricular activities and also have access to frequent opportunities for foreign travel.

Staff at Kirkland work hard to make learning a challenging and enjoyable experience for pupils and to create a secure and caring environment in which all pupils are valued as individuals.

Our aim is to achieve a positive commitment to 'Learning for Life.' In this way we seek to ensure that our pupils are well-prepared for adult life and come to value learning as a life long process which enriches themselves and others.
