Torryburn School Photograph

Torryburn Primary School was built in 1910. It is a co-educational, non-denominational school serving the areas of Torryburn, Newmills and High Valleyfield. The nursery also serves the areas of Low Valleyfield and Culross.

Torryburn is a small rural school situated in the village of Newmills with fields to the rear and Firth of Forth to the front.

The main school building has 6 rooms and a dining hall, arranged around the main hall. Two additional classrooms have been built upstairs and a nursery extension has been built to the rear of the building.

The playground is large and pupils have access to the public park at the rear of the school for games.

Our aim is to create a positive ethos in school where pupils, parents and staff work together in partnership to provide the highest standard of education for our pupils.

The expressive arts curriculum is enhanced by visiting teachers of Art, Drama, PE and Music. We have a 0.3 learning support teacher.

We have a Parent Council and our Pupil Council meets regularly in school. Pupils from P6-7 are offered a residential programme at Ardroy.

The local environment is used extensively to enhance the curriculum.
