This session the pupils and staff have shown themselves to be effective contributors and responsible citizens by involvement in many charity fundraisers including:
Ø Jeans for Genes – when pupils and staff wore their jeans on a non-uniform day and donated the money collected, £48, to this appeal.
Ø In November the school took part in Kilts for Kids day in aid of Children 1st. Kilts and tartan garments were worn and the sum of £40 was raised.
Ø During December pupils and staff donned their whackiest hats for Wear a Hat in aid of Help the Aged and collected £25.
Ø In the same month empty water bottles were filled with coppers in aid of the Samaritan’s Purse “Turn on the tap” appeal. On this occasion £119.92 was raised.
Ø As school prepared for Christmas £61.36 was collected for Maggie’s Dundee from donations given at the school’s performances of the Christmas Play, The Donkey Seller.
Ø The new calendar year began with a fund raiser for Barnardo’s – pupils carried out deeds of caring and sharing and sponsorship raised £140 for the charity.
Ø In February school contributed to the Rotary Club’s Purple Pinkie appeal with a generous donation of £85.
In all instances pupils have learned of those who are disadvantaged through physical, social or emotional difficulties and have played their part in helping to make lives fair and equitable for all.
