S3 Administration Class

Standard Grade Administration is set in the context of a modern business environment and provides an excellent background for pupils who wish to pursue a career in the business world and/or a foundation for future education and training in Administration or a range of related subjects.

There are 2 main Areas of Study in Standard Grade Administration:

 

Area of Study 1 - Administrative Support

 

  • Introduction to business organisations
  • Departments in an organisation
  • The working environment in offices
  • Reception services
  • Dealing with mail
  • Filing
  • Reprographics
  • Sources of information used in the workplace – both paper-based and electronic
  • Business travel arrangements

Area of Study 2 - Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

 

  • Using technology for communicating – internet, electronic mail, fax, videoconferencing, voicemail, electronic diary, etc)
  • Word Processing
  • Spreadsheets
  • Databases
  • File management
