Standard Grade Administration is set in the context of a modern business environment and provides an excellent background for pupils who wish to pursue a career in the business world and/or a foundation for future education and training in Administration or a range of related subjects.
There are 2 main Areas of Study in Standard Grade Administration:
Area of Study 1 - Administrative Support
- Introduction to business organisations
- Departments in an organisation
- The working environment in offices
- Reception services
- Dealing with mail
- Filing
- Reprographics
- Sources of information used in the workplace – both paper-based and electronic
- Business travel arrangements
Area of Study 2 - Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
- Using technology for communicating – internet, electronic mail, fax, videoconferencing, voicemail, electronic diary, etc)
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheets
- Databases
- File management
