This course consists of 2 units:
1 Business Enterprise
Types of business organisations, methods of obtaining finance, how business affects society, sources and types of business information, how decisions are made in business
2 Business Decision Areas
How businesses are organised, the role of Marketing, Finance, Production and Human Resource departments, uses and benefits of IT.
3 Assessment Arrangements
Each unit has a series of tests which are completed throughout S3 and S4 and there is an external paper at the end of S4 which lasts for 1 ¾ hours.
Pupils will be assessed by one paper testing their business knowledge. The Paper is divided into 2 sections.
Section One – Pupils apply their business knowledge to a business situation by answering questions, based on a case study.
Section Two – Pupils are tested on their business knowledge and understanding across all 3 units by choosing and answering 2 from 5 essay questions.
