Dear Parent / Carer
Welcome back. I hope every one had a good break.
This term promises to be very busy as usual. I hope you have had a chance to look at the school website and would welcome any comments/feedback.
The School Information Site addresses are as follows:
Torryburn Primary - http://www.fifedirect.org.uk/torryburnps
Torryburn Nursery - http://www.fifedirect.org.uk/torryburnnur
Christmas Fayre - It is hard to believe but it is only 4 weeks until we have our Christmas Fayre on Friday, 4th December (more information to follow).
Hallowe’en Party - This was very successful and the kids had a great time. Many thanks to the Parent Council for organising it.
Badminton (p3-7) - We are fortunate to be having input from Active Schools for badminton sessions for the next 4 weeks. Over the year we hope to have other ‘tasters’ including basketball.
Responsible Citizens - We are participating in the Shoe Box appeal to support Blythswood Care. Thank-you for your support with this.
Kiva - There are a few last minute hiccoughs with getting started on the Kiva project but I am hopeful we will be up and running very soon (more information to follow).
P6 and P7 are continuing with French and Ms Templar from the High School is very impressed with how the children are doing.
Dance Festival - We will be going to the Glen Pavilion on the 24th of November to participate again this year. The children are absolutely brilliant and have learned all the dances.
Swine Flu - We are continuing to follow Fife policy and we are focusing on maintaining high standards of hygiene.
Parent/Carer involvement in school - As always we are extremely keen to work closely with parents and carers. It was disappointing that the Bingo Night could not go ahead due to lack of numbers. With this in mind I have
enclosed a pro-forma for you to share your views/preferences for becoming more involved with school. We are a friendly bunch (honest !) and would welcome any and all support/involvement you feel comfortable with.
Christmas – This year we are planning a special Christmas assembly performance of ‘Shine Star Shine’ to which all parents / carers are warmly invited. More information will follow nearer the time but I wanted to give you advance notice so that you can book time off if necessary. The date is Thursday, 17th December at 2.00 pm.
Community Council – “Best Kept Town and Villages Awards” – To find out more about how you can get involved in this year’s awards go along to the Village Hall on Sunday, 8th November at 2.00 pm and get off to a good start by helping to plant some spring bulbs to help brighten up the villages. For more information contact the community Council on 01383 882069.
