Internal Applicants OnlyThe Home Care Service is part of Residential/Day and Home Care Services. The service is responsible for providing support throughout Fife to people within their own homes and assisting them to maintain as high a level of independence as possible.
The Home Care Service employs over 1000 front-line staff to deliver support and care to 4500 clients throughout Fife. Each week there is excess of 20,000 hours of support delivered.
As part of a modernisation programme the service has created a Business Resource Unit to attend to service activity. The Business Resource Unit (BRU) is a properly structured unit designed to manage the flow of work into the Home Care Service and matching business demands against service availability.
You will be responsible for the updating and maintaining of the scheduling tool, making decisions in relation to the deployment of frontline staff, as well as providing an efficient and effective first point of contact for service users and staff.
The BRU will operate over an extended working day and will operate over a two-shift day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Staff will be required to work, on a rota basis, to provide essential cover to meet the demands of the service.
You must be able to demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills, have experience of IT systems and excellent all round computer knowledge.
You will have an understanding of service provision in a Community Care environment.

A Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) qualification is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.

You will have knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols and experience of joint working to achieve common goals.
You will have the ability to travel throughout Fife.

The role of caretaker at the Cottage involves a range of duties including minor building maintenance and health & safety checks, preparing rooms for group activities, a designated cleaning programme and on occasions covering the reception and telephones . The aim of The Cottage Family Centre is to promote and support the welfare of families with pre-school age children, living in the Kirkcaldy area.
You will be expected to:
- maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the Cottage premises;
- maintain a flexible approach to duties and responsibilities, for example, days/times, and work additional hours where required;
- have an understanding of, and maintain, confidentiality at all times; and,
- act as a keyholder and open and secure the building when required.
You will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week and the rate of pay will be £6.30 per hour. This is a temporary position for a period of six months.
Initially the hours of work will be between 7:30 - 9:30am Monday to Friday; however, this will be subject of ongoing review and may change.
You should be:
- able to work on own initiative;
- able to work as part of a team;
- be aware of the importance of adhering to Health & Safety procedures and regulations; and,
