Welcome to Kirkcaldy West Primary School
Welcome to the website for Kirkcaldy West Primary School, where we hope to provide you with an overview of the life and work of our school. We also have a Kirkcaldy West Twitter account https://twitter.com/kirkcaldywestps and we have a Parent Voice and PTA page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/kirkcaldywestparents/. Both are excellent sources of additional information, photographs and videos of our school.
Our school is over 100 years old and is a single storey, stone built, listed building. The school is situated within a built up, well established residential area of Kirkcaldy. Like many Victorian built schools in town centre settings, we have no grassy areas or playing fields. Our nursery outdoor spaces benefit from soft pore surfacing. We have developed our playground this session to include more quiet areas and play equipment such as agility cube/trim trail and contextualised play structures have been installed. We have provided space for planting and outdoor learning. We have recently taken delivery of an ECO Skip and have planted it with vegetables and produce! We also have a small garden area hidden away in our back playground.
We enjoy a large and mixed catchment area and currently we have a pupil roll of over 500 primary pupils plus 126 capacity in our Nursery provision. You can view our latest care inspectorate report by clicking this link http://www.careinspectorate.com/index.php/care-services We have 18 classes in P1 - 7 and offer a range of nursery placements for 3 and 4 year olds.
The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) consists of:
Nursery - Primary 7: Mrs Paulene Bradshaw HT (temporary)
Nursery - Primary 1: Mrs Tracy Westwater DHT
Primary 2- Primary 4: Miss Geraldine Lawless DHT
Primary 5 - Primary 7: Mrs Lesley Rae DHT
We operate an open-door policy and are happy to meet with parents at anytime to discuss any matter in relation to their child's education. We aim to be in the playground most mornings and after school and would welcome informal discussions with parents then also. You can contact any member of the SLT through the HT email account on email@example.com .
At Kirkcaldy West our vision is to equip each child with the skills necessary to be an active member of a 21st century global community. Our broad aims are for our pupils to be Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Repsonsible Citizens. We embrace new learning approaches and technology to help us do this better!
We hope you find our website informative! Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
With best wishes,
Paulene Bradshaw, Headteacher
