Managing Flexible In Team Zone Workers
There are no contractual implications for staff working under the FITZ Workstyle. All Council policies, procedures and practices apply as normal, e.g. time recording, sickness absence, booking of leave and discipline and grievance. However, employees might have an amended contract if they’ve applied for individual flexible working arrangements such as reduced working hours and this has been agreed.
There are unlikely to be many changes in the work environment for FITZ workers and their managers. Probably the biggest impact will be the move from having an individual workstation/desk to having shared team workstations. The other major change is in the relationship with colleagues who are in one of the other category of Workstyles (Flexible, Mobile or Homeworking). For example, they will need to be aware of the various working arrangements so that they can continue providing the same level of support to colleagues working remotely. It will be critical to ensure that communication and diary systems are working effectively to ensure that two-way communication is not adversely affected.
Flexible working is likely to herald a different kind of working culture with new and different management styles as well as new support systems, working practices and team working. This will inevitably impact on FITZ staff.
