Launched by the Community Safety Partnership in April 2002 the Fife Safety Camera Partnership aims:-

  • to reduce the number and severity of casualties on the road.
  • through analysis of intelligence-led statistical data, identify where speed cameras of an appropriate type can be used most effectively to have a positive safety outcome.
  • incorporate the utilisation of safety cameras into the general sphere of community safety by addressing areas of community concern.
  • be transparent in operations and activities.
  • forge clear tangible links to accredited road safety activities.

Leuchars Air Show:         A joint high visibility strategy by Fife and Tayside Safety Camera Partnership will be deployed to coincide with the Leuchars Air Show (11th September) and drivers should be aware that Tayside mobile units will cover the Taybridge to Forgan area.

Country Roads:  During 2004-08, 629 people have been involved in fatal and serious road casualties on country roads, in Fife alone and across the country:-

3 out of 4 fatalities happen on country roads

  • 55% of cases where people have been killed or seriously injured - inappropriate speed has been a factor and the 2 most common causes are loss of control and inappropriate speed (travelling too fast for the conditions of exceeding the speed limit).

Fife Safety Camera Partnership aim to intensify deployment on routes in and around country roads in a bid to support the national campaign.  For further information click here to access the 'Don't risk it' website.

Section 172  of the Road Traffic Act, 1988 states it is the responsibility of the Registered Keeper to know who is driving the veicle at all times.  FSCP aim to assiist the keeper in identifying the driver if possible.  However, the onus lies completely with the registered keeper and a fine of £1000  and 6 penalty points can be applied if the information is not presented.
