There’s no need to take expensive day trips to keep the kids happy and
healthy during the summer holidays. Fife Sports and Leisure Trust and
Fife’s community-use schools are offering a jam-packed holiday
programme full of exciting activities to keep the whole family active and
entertained all summer long. Sign up for one of the week-long sports
camps or outdoor adventures, or take advantage of free swimming and

Services (GH&MS) project.
NOWADAYS, many people use readymade meals instead of putting something together themselves for dinner, believing that it’s quicker and cheaper. But Fife’s first community kitchen is looking to show that making meals from scratch is easy, inexpensive, nutritious and often much tastier than reaching for a ready meal.

extended its hours,
with support for
mums now available

from 10am to 4pm.
ENABLE Scotland’s
Fife branch, in
partnership with the
Fife community food
project, communityuse
schools and Bell
Baxter High School,
organised two pilot
cooking courses in
Kirkcaldy and Cupar.
A COMMUNITYbased
creative
arts/crafts group is
aiming to increase
the confidence,
motivation and social
skills of participants.
TWO community
groups for older people,
set up by occupational
therapists from
Whyteman’s Brae
Hospital, are going
from strength
to strength.
THIS summer
sees teen
parents from the
Levenmouth Teen
Parent Project
launch their Secret
Garden activities
programme.
Fife Council offers a range of community grant
schemes that are available to voluntary
organisations, community groups and individuals
Operation LASER (Local Action
Supporting Enforcement
and Reassurance),
which tackles the key
areas of antisocial
behaviour, is bringing
the police closer to
Fife’s communities.
FIFE Constabulary is
delighted with the
enthusiasm Fifers
have shown towards
getting involved in
identifying and
developing policing
priorities for their
local area.
AN NHS Fife programme
is offering practical support
and advice to overweight
youngsters and their
families.
SINCE February, women
have been able to make
an appointment with a
midwife as soon as
they find out
they are
pregnant.
