One hundred members of the Can Am Pipe Band from Canada and North America visited Dunfermline on Friday 3rd August as part of a Jubilee Tour of Scotland that included them performing at the World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow. Can Am will be returning to Dunfermline in 2013 as part of the build up to a larger event in Dunfermline in 2014 where national celebrations are planned to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.

Can Am performed for the people of Dunfermline at the Louise Carnegie Gates Pittencrieff Park on Friday 3rd August. Following on from this performance the band will then marched through Pittencrieff Park past the newly refurbished Glen Pavilion and Peacock Lounge for a second public performance at outside Pittencrieff House Museum.

Can Am pipers and drummers were given guided tours of Dunfermline before they visited a number of different locations throughout Dunfermline.

Visit Dunfermline hosted a reception at East End Football Park at which the Milngavie Pipe Band piped in the visiting pipers from Canada and North America.
