Met Office 1100 Forecast & Advisory Update - Further advice from the PWS Advisor
1100 Forecast update for Friday 20 November
The latest forecast output remains unchanged. Friday will be mainly dry across much of Scotland but with scattered showers, some of these heavy at times, particluarly over the Western Highlands. Tonight will be a generally fine night before further rain moves in from the south west during Saturday.
Advisory Warning for Saturday 21st November The Advisory has been issued to ensure that the public and the emergency responder community are aware that any moderate amount of rainfall has the potential to cause further localised flooding depending upon the local conditions. In addition to the rain, gusts of 60mph will affect exposed western areas with inland gusts of 45mph possible.
The Advisory Warning remains in place for Dumfries & Galloway, Lothian & Borders, Strathclyde, Central, Fife & Tayside. However, can I reiterate that this is entirely due to concerns over the current level of ground saturation in many parts of the country. The expected rainfall amounts will not be anywhere near the scale of Thursday's rainfall and would not justify the issuing of an Advisory warning under 'normal' circumstances. Many areas included in the Advisory warning area will not meet the criteria for issuing a Flash warning.
