Scottish Award for Business Excellence Winners 2012
FIFE Education Service has achieved one of Scotland’s most prestigious business awards.
The Service was awarded the overall prize at the Quality Scotland ceremony – picking up the 2012 Scottish Award for Business Excellence.
Independent assessors from some of the UK’s leading business and public service organisations evaluated every aspect of Fife Education’s activities and performance and highlighted a number of key successes including:
- Fife Education Service works successfully with key partners and stakeholders to provide high quality education to Fife’s children and young people
- a clear vision is in place to really engage and consult with people
- staff are empowered to improve services
- The Service ultimately enhances the ‘learning experience’ for its pupils
Ken Greer, Executive Director of Education and Learning said: “Following on from our five star rated achievement at the start of the year, we are absolutely delighted to be named as the winner of the Scottish Business Excellence Award for 2012.
“This award is testimony to the tremendous hard work and commitment of all of our staff and supporters in partner organisations and is a fitting tribute to mark how far we’ve come on our journey to excellence over the past 10 years.
“Despite the challenging economic times we will continue to build on this achievement to improve the quality of education we provide to Fife’s children and young people.”
CouncillorBryan Poole, Executive Spokesperson for Education and Learning, said: “I’d like to congratulate the Education Directorate on winning this award. Education is the key to a more equal and more inclusive society. A good education is an investment in every child and young person’s future prosperity and happiness.
“Achieving this award not only highlights the considerable improvements to the Education Directorate over the last 10 years, but also Fife Council’s commitment to ensuring that all Fife pupils receive the best education possible. This is something that we will continue to build on and deliver so that young people are well qualified and prepared for the world of work.”
