FacebookFife pupils mark Queen's Diamond Jubilee

PRIMARY 7 pupils from across Dunfermline welcomed Margaret Dean, Lord Lieutenant of Fife, to St Margaret’s Primary School to launch a website that pupils across Fife will be able to contribute to, to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The site, which is hosted by Glow, the national intranet for Scottish schools, looks at how life has changed and what has happened in the Kingdom during the Queen’s 60-year reign including:
- Culture and fashion
- Holidays and leisure
- Schools and education
- Famous events
- Industry
- Sport
Cara Loizidou and Ryan Turnbull from St Margaret’s Primary School gave the Lord Lieutenant of Fife a demonstration of the site. Cara said: “I really enjoyed working on this project. It was fun finding out about what life used to be like, especially at school. I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like without the internet!”
Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Mrs Margaret Dean, said: “I’m delighted that all school pupils in Fife are having the opportunity to contribute to the website set up to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It gives them a wonderful overview of life, events and developments in Fife over the last 60 years.
“I should like to thank the Education Service for all their efforts in this special initiative.”
Ken Greer, Executive Director of Education added: “I’m very impressed with the work the children have put into the research which they have posted on this website. We were extremely pleased to welcome Mrs Dean to launch it officially today.”
