This course is aimed at equipping students with knowledge and understanding of safe sea passage in local waters – up to 12 miles off shore. The certificate awarded by the RYA {Royal Yachting Association} is also a minimum requirement by Her Majesties Coastguard for job opportunities. Commercial Fishermen wishing to captain their own vessel are also required to complete this course.

Students will sit an exam at the end of the course.

RYA Day Skipper will cover the following areas

  • Navigation of local waters
  • Chart  and compass work
  • First Aid
  • Health & Safety at Sea
  • Weather
