Supporting those with hearing impairments leads to SVQ success

Susan McEvoy, Evelyn Beck and Mark Dorado who each have a hearing impairment, are amongst 10 Employees at Matrix Fife who embarked on an SVQ in Business Improvement Techniques in August 2011.

To date Susan is first past the post having completed her project and awaiting results. She is now assisting with interpreting and advising Mark.

Iris Kernaghan, Manager at Matrix has said, “This training is to encourage continuous improvement in the workplace and each of the 10 champions has been involved in promoting business improvements at Matrix Fife.”

AdamSmith Collegeworks in partnership with Matrix to support the delivery of the vocational training.  Sandra Robb, Senior Tutor says “This partnership strives to find ways to support everyone through their training to attain valuable knowledge and qualifications.” 

Matrix Fife in Dalgety Bay provides employment and training opportunities for people who have disabilities or health issues: and is part of Fife Employability Team Adult Services (Resources) Social Work Service.

Fife Employability Team offers a range of services to help people with disabilities or health issues, find and keep employment. The Team also works with employers, assisting them in successfully employing people with disabilities. They can be contacted at
