Less than a week until bin collection changes
Archived news: published on Tuesday 09 Oct 2012 by Fife Council
Less than a week to go until Fife Council rolls out it’s new bin collection system. From Monday 15 October refuse collectors will be working longer hours, which means your bins could be emptied anytime between 6am and 9pm.
Every household in Fife has now received an information leaflet about the changes, and a bin collection calendar explaining what your new bin collection day will be. You’ll also see a reminder note on your bin when it’s emptied this week asking you to check your new bin calendar as the day and time we empty your bin may have changed.
This new longer working day was agreed following a review of household waste collection services earlier this year. Households will receive the same number of bin collections as they do currently and businesses will continue to have their waste collected seven days a week. However, by making full use of our bin lorries we can cut down on the number of lorries we need, and save over £800,000 of public money while preserving jobs.
Over the next few days before the new system starts, remember to check what your new collection day is (it’s likely to have changed), put your bins out by 6am and leave unemptied bins out until 9pm.
You can check your new bin day and download your new bin calendar at www.fifedirect.org.uk/binchanges or call the Recycling Helpline on 08451 55 00 22.
