Extended closure of William Street, Dunfermline
Archived news: published on Thursday 17 May 2012 by Fife Council
Transportation & Environmental Services and Scotland Gas Networks (SGN) are set to begin some significant improvements to William Street, between Rumblingwell and Pittencrieff Street in Dunfermline. Work will commence on Monday 28 May, 2012, and is expected to take up to the end of November, 2012.
The works involve the replacement of the bridge at the north end of William Street, and the installation of a new gas main along the length of the street. The work will be undertaken on behalf of the Council by Farrans and on behalf of SGN by Turriff. These works have been coordinated to minimise long-term inconvenience.
To ensure the health and safety of the workforce and the public a temporary road closure will be in place for the duration of the works. A diversion route will be in place via Baldridgeburn, Mill Street, Pilmuir Street, Carnegie Drive, Glen Bridge and Pittencrieff Street.
Access for residents and the emergency services will be maintained. Pedestrian access will be maintained at the bridge using a temporary diversion over the Baldridge Burn.
