The first milestone in a programme of developments in Dunfermline’s magnificent Pittencrieff Park has been reached with the opening of the ‘Peacock Rooms’ at the Glen Pavilion. The new cafe will provide park visitors with an all weather space to relax and enjoy some refreshment.
The Peacock Rooms has been designed to provide a year-round facility for visitors. Built on to the east side of the existing 1920s building it is a bright, welcoming space, glazed on two sides and opening on to a south and west facing terrace, allowing fantastic views across the park and beyond. It also includes a children’s play area and in addition to the other popular Pavilion spaces, is available for hire for functions and events in the evenings.
Robin Watson, Chairman of the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust which has funded the extension, said, “The Trustees are delighted with this wonderful new facility which not only provides a much needed all weather provision in the Park but adds a very special sparkle to the iconic Pavilion building.”
Councillor Mike Rumney, Chair of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee added, “Pittencrieff Park is a great asset for Dunfermline, and the Peacock Rooms is a superb addition to the facilities it offers. I am sure it will prove to be a popular venue with the thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the Park every year.”
The Pavilion is run by Fife Council’s Catering & Cleaning Service, and is a popular venue for weddings, dinners, conferences, community and other events.
