Scottish Conference
Wednesday 13th June 2012 at Carnegie Conference Centre, Dunfermline.
Participatory Budgeting - an opportunity to learn more and to influence the way we engage with our communities to make the decision that really matter.
In Glenrothes Area together with five other parts of Scotland, the concept of participatory Budgeting (PB) was tested during 2010. Since then Glenrothes has run two further PB events and Kirkcaldy and South West Fife Areas have held one event each.
Following the publication of the Christie Commission report and the ensuing move toward Public Sector Reform, together with the Community Empowerment Renewal Bill, the time is right to see how we can further develop PB and Participatory Democracy.
On Wednesday 13th June a Scotland-wide conference is being held to look at the role of PB in ensuring individuals and community groups are more connected to the decision-making processes. Speakers include Derek MacKay, Scottish Government Minister for Local Government & Planning.
