Free insulation scheme keeping Fifers warm
Archived news: published on Friday 13 Jul 2012 by Fife Council
The summer weather might not be keeping Fifers warm but Fife Council’s free insulation offer is ensuring homes in the Kingdom are cosy!
The council’s free insulation offer is still available throughout Fife to private households.
The offer is for free loft and or cavity wall insulation to private sector homes. Aside from being a homeowner or private tenant there are no other criteria to meet – the only condition is that your property can take loft and or cavity wall insulation.
You can book a free no-obligation survey by calling the Home Energy Scotland Hotline free on 0800 512 012 (if calling from a mobile dial 0300 456 2655 to be charged at local network rates) or by texting ‘WARM’ to 81025.
But the council is reminding residents this offer is only being delivered by appointed installer Everwarm in partnership with local social enterprise Changeworks, which runs the Energy Saving Scotland advice centre for South East Scotland.
No other companies are part of this free insulation offer.
Councillor David Ross, Executive Spokesperson for Housing, Communities and Local Services said: “We’ve had a small number of complaints about firms who have called at people’s doors claiming to be part of the council’s offer.
“We are not prepared to ignore the issue and are encouraging Fifers to take extra care.
“If you’re not sure whether the person on your doorstep is working for Everwarm or Changeworks to deliver the council’s free insulation offer, there are a number of things you can do.
“You can ask for ID and if you’re still not satisfied you can verify it by calling the Energy Saving Scotland advice centre on 0800 512 012 to ask if they have people working in the area.
“Householders can also look for their company logo and headed paper, business cards and uniform, and shouldn’t commit to anything unless they’re confident that they’re genuine.
”They should also report the matter to the council’s Housing and Neighbourhood Service on 08451 55 55 55 Ext 473412.”
Householders can find out more about the insulation offer online or book a free no-obligation survey by calling the Home Energy Scotland Hotline free on 0800 512 012 (if calling from a mobile dial 0300 456 2655 to be charged at local network rates) or by texting ‘WARM’ to 81025.
