Olivia with her Olympic Torch
Children from all of Beath High School's associated Primaries have been igniting their own Olympic torch creativity through an Active Schools initiative launched to promote the value of the Olympic Games. All children were invited to design and create their very own Olympic Torch which had to adhere to strict design principles whilst ensuring the aesthetic quality wasn't compromised.
The young designers were briefed by Jessica Thomson, Active School's coordinator for Beath High School Cluster, that the winning Torch, chosen from the finalists representing each of the schools, would have to be durable and symbolise both Olympian Values whilst retaining an element of Scottish-ness.
St. Bride's Primary 7 pupil Olivia Haddow’s winning torch will be carried by Olympic ambassadors from each of the primary schools and will travel between schools, arriving on time to coincide with each of the school's planned Olympic events before finally arriving at Beath High School where it will be put on permanent display in its very own glass case.
