Olympic Torch Relay Wednesday 13 June: Early closure

Archived news: published on Friday 01 Jun 2012 by Fife Council

You will be aware that the Olympic Torch Relay takes place in Dunfermline on the afternoon of Wednesday 13 June.    Relays will take place in Cairneyhill, Crossford and Dunfermline (Pittencrieff Street – Carnegie Drive – St Margaret’s Drive – Queensferry Road) between 15.00 and 16.00.

The slow processing of the Torch relays will impede traffic flow and cause congestion and delays.   In order to ensure that school transport is not unduly delayed and that pupils are not stranded at schools, it has been agreed that all four high schools in Dunfermline will close early on 13 June.

In Woodmill’s case, this means that the school will close to pupils after lunch time.

  • Lunch will be available for all pupils as normal

  • Buses have been arranged for 12.30 pm

The senior leavers’ night at the Balbirnie House Hotel will go ahead as arranged.  All pupils attending this function have been written to individually.

The school will be open as usual on Thursday 14 June.
