Meedies Bike Club, in partnership with Fife Council’s Outdoor Education Team, is hosting a cycling extravaganza at Lochore Meadows Country Park on Saturday 21 April.
Andy McGrath, from Fife Council’s Outdoor Education Team said: “The bike spectacular will be bringing some of the top biking attractions on offer in the UK to the area.
“There has been real investment in mountain biking within the park and we now have a range of top quality trails on offer. Holding a showcase event like this allows everyone to come along and see what’s on offer at Lochore Meadows. Beginners are welcome to give it a go and we hope that it encourages even more people to take up biking.”
The fun will begin at 10am and run throughout the day until 5pm.
‘The Clan’ will wow the crowds with the most extreme and skilful cycling display show in the UK. The show includes huge jumps and near-impossible feats of balance and nerve on a purpose-built rig. They will be performing shows throughout the day as well as running interactive workshops teaching spectators how to do tricks and stunts.
‘TheAirBag’ - a safe, painless and addictive way for riders to practice their freestyle maneuvers without the fear of not making the landing will also be at the event. Even the most inexperienced riders can learn to jump the bag, helping to increase their confidence and skill.
The Meedies Bike Club will be staging ‘Dirt Crits’ which are short, fun cross country mountain bike races. Courses will be short but challenging for anyone wanting to give it a go with a selection of technical single-track and easier flat sections. No matter what age, ability or fitness level there will be an opportunity to give it a go or participate with other like-minded riders. Race registration and bike checks will be available from 10am at the Main Park Centre with races taking place between 10:30am and 1pm.
Free coaching session from former Scottish XC & Downhill Champion Andy Barlow and his Dirt School Team will be available with coaching workshops running at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.
A wide range of attractions, stalls and competitions will also be on show including:
- Leslie Bike Shop stall giving expert advice on all things cycling related
- Guided mountain bike rides leading tours of the new bike park and trails at Lochore Meadows
- Peachey Keen Bikes
- Timber Skills Loop
- Climbing Wall
- DJ & BBQ.
