Archived news: published on Monday 03 Sep 2012 by Fife Council

If you are studying full-time you may be entitled to a discount or exemption on your council tax.

You may be exempt from paying council tax if you are student who lives alone or in a property wholly occupied by full-time students.

Applying for your discount or exemption couldn’t be easier if you apply online.  Students studying at the following colleges/universities can apply this way.

  • Abertay University
  • Adam Smith College
  • Carnegie College
  • Dundee College
  • Dundee University
  • Elmwood College
  • St Andrews University
  • Stirling University

Your College or University will provide us with a list of students who have given permission to pass on their details to us.  We will then be able to confirm that you are a student and apply your discount.  We receive the lists from mid October onwards so your discount will not be applied until after this time.

If you are studying at another University or College please download the Student Discount Form (PDF) at the bottom of the page.
