The Kingdom Shopping Centre in Glenrothes was once again presented with the Scottish Business Crime Centre "Safer Shopping Award" on Monday 16th April 2012 for excellence in crime reduction practice and partnership working.
In 2007, the Kingdom Centre became the first Town and the first Shopping Centre in Scotland to achieve this award and Safer Shopping Status which applies for 2 years. This was awarded once again in 2009 and to be repeated this month. Kingdom Centre Management are very proud to achieve the award once again as result of close partnership working with Fife Council, Fife Constabulary, Centre retailers and the local community, ensuring that the Centre offers a safe, clean and welcoming environment for all customers & staff.
Centre Management underwent a comprehensive assessment by members from the Scottish Business Crime Centre, who visited the Kingdom Centre to verify the initiatives in place and declared that the Centre had exceeded the necessary standard.
Gary Ritchie, Assistant Director of the Scottish Business Crime Centre, “Achieving the Safer Shopper Award for the third time is a mark of the dedication of the Kingdom Shopping Centre’s staff, The retailers within the centre, Fife Constabulary, Fife Council and all the other partners involved. It takes a high level of commitment to gain the award for a third time and all involved should be justifiably proud of their achievement.
The work by the key partners in providing a safer shopping environment was evident throughout the accreditation process, and underlined the commitment the centre has towards the safety and security of customers and employees alike. On behalf of all the staff at The Scottish Business Crime Centre I congratulate all the partners involved on not only achieving accreditation again but in their commitment to maintaining the required standards of the award throughout the years.”
Kingdom Centre Manager, Robert Winter commented “We are extremely proud to achieve this award for the third time, in recognition of our commitment to responsible business practice and our local community. I would like to congratulate and thank Fife Police, Fife Council, Centre staff & retailers at the Centre and the local community, as it is through this partnership working and communication with these groups that this success has been possible.”
A formal presentation & celebration of the award was held at the Rothes Halls on Monday 16th April 2012.
