Members of the public are being given the chance to discuss a proposed new housing development at North Fod, a site off Pittsburgh Road in Dunfermline.

The drop-in event for members of the public to view and comment on the planning application will take place at Halbeath Community Leisure Centre on Thursday 21 June between 4pm and 7pm.

The development would comprise of a mix of private and council homes. The council properties, which would account for a quarter of all properties will range from one bedroom to four bedrooms in size and include some wheelchair and amenity housing.

This project proposes to meet housing needs in an area where there is a shortage of affordable housing in particular. The council housing within this development will assist in addressing the housing needs in the area.

The planning application for this development is currently being prepared and Fife Council are keen for local residents to come along to the drop in event to find out more and give their comments and views.

Derek Muir, Head of Fife Council’s Housing & Neighbourhood Servicessaid: “Those attending the event will be able to comment on the proposals for the new development. Representatives from the Council’s Design and Housing teams will be there to discuss the plans and answer any questions people may have about what we intend to submit for planning approval.

”It’s important to remember that the planning application for this development has not yet been placed. We are looking for early feedback on our initial proposal to ensure that we are taking the needs and concerns of local residents into consideration. The outcome of this will potentially help us shape the application.”

Anyone who isn't able to make it along to this event can contact Claire Mackinlay, Lead Officer – Housing Developmenton 08451 55 55 55 ext 444535 for more information on the project.

Once submitted, the planning application will be available to view online at www.fifedirect.org.uk and the standard consultation process for planning applications will commence.
