Opportunity to comment on Fife's new Online Employment Land Audit

Archived news: published on Friday 13 Nov 2009 by Fife Council

Fife Council carries out an annual audit of employment land sites in Fife to collect information on the development status of sites and site availability by looking at issues such as site services (electricity, gas, etc) and permitted land uses. This year’s audit was completed in August 2009.

The Council is now inviting land owners, developers, property consultants and surveyors to comment online on the information held to provide a clear picture of employment land supply across Fife.

This year, interactive mapping on the Fife Direct website allows users to navigate around employment land sites in Fife by settlement, or by zooming in and out of a map. Comments can be submitted on individual employment land sites by clicking on the map and then completing the related online consultation form. It gives site owners and the development industry the opportunity to comment on the accuracy of the information held and the chance to comment on the status of particular sites to inform the next audit. Comments are also being sought on the general process
Councillor Tony Martin, Strategic Chair of the Environment Enterprise and Transportation Committee, said: “Fife Council has reviewed the information held about land available for development into offices, factories, and other business uses. This includes a more detailed presentation of site characteristics, which we believe will help potential developers when considering site selection and development strategies. By presenting this years audit findings online with an interactive mapping tool customers are able to view what was previously complex information in an easily accessible format.”

He added: “We want to ensure future audits are both accurate and useful to those involved in the development process, so for this discussion period we are asking land owners, property consultants, and other interested parties to comment on the terminology, site profiles, and usefulness of presenting the data in this form. The feedback from this will help us give the development industry accurate data to support the development process.”
