Dalgety Bay Out of School Club
Children from the Dalgety Bay Out of School Club are reaping the rewards from their interest in gardening. Last year Debbie Watson from Dobbies Garden Centre, Dalgety Bay regularly visited the club to talk to children about growing vegetables and flowers from seeds. Their success in producing a bumper crop of tomatoes resulted in the parents making a donation for tomatoes and the money was used to buy more seeds.
The children were very enthusiastic and thrilled when Dobbies offered them a plot in the garden centre enabling them to grow a range of vegetables and flowers.
They have successfully managed to grow lettuce, peas, onions, potatoes, strawberries and some beautiful flowers.
Debbie Watson from Dobbies said “ the children are very keen and are always asking questions. They are really excited seeing the plants grow, especially when they are ready for picking.”
These children are now using the fruits of their labour in their “Come Dine With Me” events they are holding throughout the Out of School Club’s summer programme.
