Representatives from Fife's 84 community councils came together at Fife House on Saturday, 10 May to attend a seminar offering advice and information on a range of subjects of interest to local communities.

At the annual seminar, council officers ran workshops on planning, transportation issues, licensing and research. The event also gave community councillors from different areas the opportunity to meet each other and exchange ideas and advice.

Linda Purdie, Democratic Services Team Leader said, "We want to support community councils in playing an active and important democratic role within their communities. Up to date knowledge about local services and legislation will help community councillors consult residents and engage Fife Council more effectively on local issues."

James Lawson, North Queensferry Community Council said, "I attended the seminar with Ian Mitchell QC, Chair of the Community Council and we both enjoyed the day and found the various workshops very informative. The event certainly opens up good avenues of communication for the future and will hopefully be repeated on a regular basis."

Community councils communicate with all public sector agencies including NHS Fife, Fife Constabulary and the Council. The groups meet regularly to discuss local issues and members of the community are welcome to attend.
