Glenrothes school children cutting first "sod" in Riverside Park
UR Park U Decide
The next stage of the new play equipment in Riverside Park took a step forward this week when the ‘sod cutting’ ceremony took place with staff from Fife Council and Menzies the contractor to install the equipment. The children, equipped in their hard hats and safety vests, have been involved all the way through the process from the first voting to choosing where the equipment would go in the park.
The equipment started to in on Wednesday 21st March and will take approximately 2 weeks to install. There will be an official opening of the new facilities after the May elections and again the children will be involved on that day. The children involved were from Caskieberran, St Pauls, Tanshall and Warout Schools.
A further enhancement to the park will be the installation of portal toilet facilities to hopefully enable us to gauge the usage and requirements for a more permanent facility. At this time there will not be disabled facilities available but they will certainly be in the plans for the future build. A feasibility study is being carried out at the moment to establish the permanent site.
