Glenrothes Theatre Company

GLENROTHES THEATRE COMPANY
We meet in the Lister Memorial Hall, Leslie Baptist Church, North Street, Leslie KY6 3DJ on Wednesdays between 8.00 and 10.00 pm. If you're interested in joining the group, please get in touch. We always welcome new members.Norma and Ron Nicol, who both formerly worked in the professional theatre, started an evening class in drama in Newcastle Primary and Community School in 1978. The class put on its first production the following year, and became the drama group known as Glenrothes Theatre Company.
The Company attracted members from all over Fife, and in 1982 and 1986 junior and youth classes were begun. At first the members joined the Company for performances, but eventually put on their own productions as the Junior Players and the Youtheatre.
In September 2003 Fife Council hosted a Civic Reception to acknowledge the company's Twenty-fifth Anniversary.
When community use provision at Newcastle School ended in 2008, the Junior and Youth classes separated from the main company to become part of Glenwood High School's Community Use programme, and the Junior Players and Youtheatre companies ceased to exist.
Glenrothes Theatre Company now takes members from age 16. We rehearse in the Lister Memorial Hall by kind permission of Leslie Baptist Church - we're not affiliated to the church - and put on our productions in the Rothes Halls at Glenrothes Kingdom Centre.

PRODUCTIONS, usually one act plays and pantomimes, involve group members with acting, costume-making, make-up, stage management and lighting, with Norma taking responsibility as Producer. The professional director is assisted by an experienced team of senior members.
The Company has performed at venues in Glenrothes, Leslie, Kinglassie, Buckhaven and on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The Company specialises in producing new plays written by Ron Nicol, an award-winning and internationally performed playwright. (click here to visit his website)
