Capshard Primary School opened in 1972.  It is situated in the Dunnikier area of Kirkcaldy, a large estate of modern, private housing. The catchment area of the school has recently expanded to take in the new housing in Hollybrae, to the north of Chapel Level.

The building houses 15 and is built round a central quadrangle and garden.  A large tarmac play area and extensive grass playing fields surround the school building. There is a trim trail area and outdorr classroom which are very popular with the children.

In addition to the main building there are permanent huts which provide areas for Drama and Music.

The Nursery building has three large rooms and is situated in the school grounds. The Nursery accommodates both three and four year old children. The current capacity of the Nursery is for 60 places in each session. Nursery hours are changing slightly next session, 2014-2015, with morning session being 8.30-11.40 and afternoon session being 12.40-3.50.

Entrance to all the main areas of the school is controlled by a Security system.

The school has strong links with parents and the local community. There is an active 'Friends of Capshard' parent group which organises social and fundraising events for children and their families.

Our aim is to challenge and encourage all our children to achieve their best and reach their full potential. We have regular events to celebrate and recognise success.

The Acting Headteacher, Mrs Welsh and Depute Headteachers Mrs Thibert (P4-7) and Ms Macinnes  (P1-3)are happy to meet with parents to discuss any issue relating to the life of the school.
