Welcome to Kirkcaldy West Primary School
Welcome to the website for Kirkcaldy West Primary School, where we hope to provide you with an overview of the life and work of our school.
Our school is over 100 years old and is a single storey, stone built, listed building. The school is situated within a built up, well established residential area of Kirkcaldy. Like many Victorian built schools in town centre settings, we have no grassy areas or playing fields.
We enjoy a large and mixed catchment area and currently we have a pupil roll of over 600 pupils, inclusive of our 63/63 Nursery provision. We have 18 classes in P1 - 7 and offer a range of nursery placements for 3 and 4 year olds.
The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) consists of:
Nursery - Primary 7: Mr Ewan Trousdale HT
Nursery - Primary 1: Mrs Tracy Westwater DHT
Primary 2- Primary 4: Miss Geraldine Lawless DHT
Primary 5 - Primary 7: Mrs Lesely Rae DHT
We operate an open-door policy and are happy to meet with parents at anytime to discuss any matter in relation to their child's education. We aim to be in the playground most mornings and after school and would welcome informal discussions with parents then also. You can contact any member of the SLT through the HT email account on firstname.lastname@example.org .
At Kirkcaldy West our vision is to equip each child with the skills necessary to be an active member of a 21st century global community. Our broad aims are for our pupils to be Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Repsonsible Citizens. We embrace new learning approaches and technology to help us do this better!
This session our pupils revised our Values as part of their work in class, pupil voice groups, Pupil Council and in partnership with our Parent Voice Group. We decided to "think Kirkcaldy West" and aspire for our pupils to demonstrate the following qualities:
Readiness to learn
Keeping each other safe
Do your best
You can do it
West is the best (aim high at all times)
