School Travel Plans
A School Travel Plan is a commitment from a school to create a package of measures, which together will encourage safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly travel by both staff and pupils. A school travel plan encompasses projects such as Safer Routes to School, active school travel and looks in detail in the classroom at issues ranging from the education of a change in transport culture to behaviour on school buses.
Fife has three School Travel Plan Co-ordinators, one in each area of Fife - Central, East and West, to work with teachers, pupils and parents to assist in the development of School Travel Plans, promoting the health and environmental benefits of alternative travel choices. They provide guidance where appropriate and create a link between schools and other stakeholders.
The School Travel Plan Resource Pack has been distributed to all schools in the area and supplements the work of the Co-ordinators. The pack is a guide to developing and implemeting a School Travel Plan. Please click on the links to see the contents of the pack.
The Walking Bus Resource Pack is also now available. This new pack offers a step by step guide to setting up a walking bus - see the attached links or contact your School Travel Plan Co-ordinator to request a pack.
