School Travel Plans

A School Travel Plan is a commitment to create a package of measures, which together will encourage safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly travel to and from school, by pupils, parents and staff. A school travel plan links together projects such as Safer Routes to School, Road Safety, Active School travel, Eco Schools and Health Promoting Schools.

Fife Council works with teachers, pupils and parents to assist in the development of School Travel Plans, promoting the health and environmental benefits of active travel to school such as walking and cycling. Fife Council provides guidance and resources where appropriate and helps to create a link between schools and other stakeholders that can help the school develop their plan.

The School Travel Plan Resource Pack has been distributed to all schools in Fife. The pack is a guide to developing and implemeting a School Travel Plan. Please click on the links on the right hand side of this page to see the contents of the pack.

A Walking Bus Resource Pack is also now available. This new pack offers a step by step guide to setting up a walking bus - see the attached links or contact us to request a pack.
