Pittencrieff Primary School is situated in an old residential part of Dunfermline to the north of Pittencrieff Park. The school, which opened in 1876, is an attractive Victorian building with an upper quadrangle around a central hall. A controlled entry system operates on all external doors.
Pittencrieff Primary School is a middle sized school of around 160 pupils with a large nursery department. There is an established School Board and an active Parent Teacher Association. Our Pupil Council (elected annually) meet regularly to discuss issues raised by the pupils.
We aim to provide our pupils with an environment which is secure and caring and, at the same time, with an education which will equip each child for the future. My teaching colleagues and I are firmly of the opinion that the school and parents must work together to ensure that children receive the best possible education. Parent helpers are welcome in school. We pride ourselves on being a family school where each individual matters and is valued.
We strive to gain success/achievement for all our pupils and use a wide variety of means to achieve this. Sport, music, drama and the arts, as well as academic study, all make up our curriculum. Our pupils are expected to work hard.
A residential week for P7 pupils is offered and our extracurricular programme includes football, pop lacrosse and netball. We make effective use of our local environment to support a wide curriculum.
We are pleased to meet with parents who wish to discuss our school.
