North Queensferry Primary School serves the village of North Queensferry and is set in a stunning location between the Forth Railway and Road Bridges. The school stands on the hill overlooking the old village.

The building is a traditional one with 3 rooms on each of the two floors. On the bottom floor 3 are used as classrooms. On the top floor two are used as classrooms and one is used as an office and resource area. There is a full size gymnasium and the dining hall and nursery are across the playground and within the school grounds. The large play area, partly grass and partly tarmac is to the sides and rear of the school. To the side of the school is a grassed area with a pond and trees which is used both as a quiet area and as a resource for science work.

The building has recently been awarded listed building status because of its historical importance, setting, and preservation.

The aims of everyone in school, staff, pupils and parents is one of success and achievement for all. This is done in a variety of ways. We hold achievement assemblies, newsletters go to parents every two weeks, we have a system of house teams where each child works for team points headed up by team captains etc.

We have an active School Board and Parent Teacher Association who work very closely with staff to promote the interest of the school and raise funds for the benefit of the children. Extra curricular activities are offered from time to time and these have featured a French Club, Model Club and Dolls House Club. Teams of children often take part in sporting activities including basketball, hockey, netball and football. We have an active programme of educational visits that link closely with the topics and work done in school and have included places as varied as Coca Cola in East Kilbride and Normandy in France. An after school club is run in the nearby community centre.

Parents are always welcome in school and we operate a fully open door policy for parents to meet with staff to discuss any aspect of school. At present we operate the Soft Start aspect of early intervention. This encourages parents to come in to school for the first half hour of the school day to play, read, work with their child in a relaxed atmosphere.
