Cupar Library is situated in the Crossgate, in the heart of the town. It is a very distinctive building, which was built over 200 years ago and can be recognised from a distance by its spire.

The library has two floors which are open to the public. The ground floor has a broad range of lending books and DVDs suitable for all ages. This floor also houses a self service terminal to allow items to be borrowed and returned without the need to go to the main desk.

The first floor houses reference books and is the main Family History and Local History Collection for libraries in North East of Fife. Census Records, Old Parish Records and old Newspapers can be consulted by members of the public. Most of these are in Microfilm format.

There are 17 computers with free access to Microsoft Office packages and the Internet, allowing you to update your CV, e-mail family abroad, book a holiday, trace your family tree to name but a few possibilities! If you need help getting started, staff are always happy to help. Taster sessions for beginners are often available and the library works in partnership with Elmwood College and hosts IT Classes in the building.

Children are very welcome and they have their own separate section of the library where events are often held. ‘Bookstart Rhymetime for Babies’ nursery rhyme sessions are held on the last Wednesday of the month and ‘Bookstart Rhymetime for Toddlers’ on the first Wednesday.

A library reading group for adults meets monthly to enjoy a shared love of reading over a glass of wine.
