Social Care

Whatever you or your family's circumstances, Fife Council’s Social Work Service can work with you to identify your needs and the support you may require. Wherever possible we will help you access services that will enable you live an independent and fulfilled life in the local community.

We offer support to people who are over the age of 16 with:

  • Physical disabilities
  • Learning disabilities
  • Sensory impairment
  • Mental health problems 
  • Other complex needs and/or personal care needs


For children under the age of 16, we can provide:

  • Child protection services
  • Provision for looked after children
  • Support for children with disabilities
  • Support to families who are experiencing particular difficulties

 

Other services such as Health, Education, Housing, Community Services, together with carers, voluntary organisations, the private sector and volunteers all complement the work we do.

Healthcare
Healthcare is provided by NHS Fife with a range of services available locally.

Your local GP practice is the local family doctor can provides a range of services as well as offering advice, information, prescriptions and support with ongoing care.

When the local doctor is closed, out of hours care is provided by NHS 24 and the Out of Hours service by calling free on 111.

Minor Injuries Services can provide treatment for a range of minor or less serious injuries and is available at St Andrews Community Hospital or Adamson Hospital in Cupar.

Accident & Emergency (A&E) Services provide care for people who show the symptoms of serious illness or are badly injured.  A&E & calling 999 should only be used for serious illnesses or injuries, so that essential treatment is given as quickly as possible to those who need it most.  A&E is available at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee or Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

There are also a number of dental practicescommunity pharmacies and opticians who provide a range of NHS services across Fife.
