With over 360 Recycling Points in Fife there's one closer than you think.  Why not use our postcode search below to find your nearest Recycling Point.

 

You can recycle at more than 360 recycling points across Fife. You’ll normally find them in your local supermarket, library or community centre car park.

 

Recycling points have coloured recycling containers (called banks) where you can recycle:

  • food and drinks cans
  • glass bottles and jars (please wash them out if you can)
  • plastic
    • all plastic bottles
    • other plastics that are Type 1 (PET) and Type 2 (HDPE)
  • textiles, for example old clothes, curtains or sheets.

 

Steel and aluminium (Yellow Bank)

Please do put in:

  • Food cans(tins)
  • Drink cans
  • Metal lids
  • Aluminium foil or containers

Please don't put in:

  • Other types of metal, for example brass or copper

What else should you do?

  • Please rinse cans and crush them if possible
  • You don’t need to take off the labels

Glass bottles and jars (White, Brown, and Green)

Please do put in:

  • White: clear glass
  • Brown: brown glass
  • Green: green and blue glass

Please don't put in:

  • Window panes
  • Pyrex dishes
  • Spectacles

What else should you do?

  • Please rinse jars before recycling them
  • You don’t need to take off the labels

Plastic bottles (Orange)

Please do put in:

All plastic bottles, for example:

  • fizzy drinks bottles
  • water bottles
  • shampoo bottles

You can also recycle any plastic that is Type 1 (PET) or Type 2 (HDPE).

Check the bottle to find out if it’s one of these types.

Please don't put in:

Please don’t put any other kind of plastic in this bank, for example:

  • Type 3 (PVC)
  • Type 4 (LDPE)
  • Type 5 (PP)
  • Type 6 (PS)
  • Type 7 (other)

What else should you do?

  • Please rinse and squash plastic bottles
  • You can put lids in too, but please separate them from the bottle

Textiles (Various colours including red, orange, green and purple banks)

Please do put in:

  • Clothes
  • Towels
  • Paired shoes
  • Curtains
  • Sheets

Please don't put in:

  • Oil-stained clothes
  • Unwashed clothes
  • Single shoes
  • Carpets and rugs

What else should you do?

  • You can put ripped or torn clothes into the bank. We can recycle them into new products such as wiping cloths.

Paper and cardboard (Blue)

Please do put in:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Cardboard juice cartons, for example Tetra Paks
  • Telephone directories
  • Magazines

Please don't put in:

  • Plastic wrapping
  • Padded envelopes
  • Sweet or crisp wrappers
  • Plastics - no bin liners or black bags
  • General waste

What else should you do?

  • Please crush any large boxes before putting them into the bank
