Disposal / Processing sites
Fife Council have arrangements in place to ensure that the majority of the waste we collect is recycled. Any source separated materials such as paper, cardboard, glass, cans and plastics, wood, scrap metals etc will be sent to a processing outlet while green garden waste delivered to one of our composting facilities. We are also sending mixed waste collected in skips to one of our Mechanical Recycling Facilities (MRF) to sort and extract the recyclates.
We try to limit the amount of waste we send to landfill but mixed waste that we can't sort through will end up being landfilled. Recycling is a cheaper and more environmental friendly option but if you do have mixed general waste you can dispose of it at one of Fifes 2 landfill sites.
Businesses that produce recyclable waste but don't want or can't accommodate a collection service have the option of purchasing a Recycling Ticket which allows you access, for 1 year from date of purchase, to one of our 9 Recycling Centres to recycle a varirty of different materials.
Some businesses do create vast amounts of waste that the use of bins or sacks would not be sufficient for them. If this is the case you can transport your own waste to one of the above facilities depending on the type of waste that you have.
